Outlets & Switches Done Right

Outlets and switches are the most-used electrical devices in your home, and they need to be installed correctly for safety and reliability. Whether you need a single GFCI outlet in your bathroom, USB outlets in your bedrooms, dimmer switches throughout your home, or a 240V outlet for a new appliance, Eleos Electric provides professional installation starting at just $45 per device throughout Windsor, Santa Rosa, Healdsburg, Rohnert Park, Petaluma, Sonoma, and Sebastopol.

Every outlet and switch we install is wired using proper techniques — side-wired screw terminals (never backstabbed), correctly torqued connections, proper wire stripping lengths, and code-compliant device selection for the location. These details matter for long-term reliability and safety, and they're the difference between a professional installation and a handyman job.

GFCI Outlet Installation

GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) outlets are required by NEC code in kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, garages, basements, crawl spaces, outdoor areas, and within 6 feet of any water source. These outlets detect ground faults (current leaking to ground through water, a person, or a damaged wire) and shut off power in 1/40th of a second — fast enough to prevent electrocution. Many older Sonoma County homes lack adequate GFCI protection.

We install GFCI outlets as both individual device replacements and as the first outlet in a circuit chain, which provides GFCI protection to all downstream outlets on that circuit. This is a cost-effective way to bring entire circuits into code compliance. We also install weather-resistant GFCI outlets (required for all outdoor applications) and tamper-resistant GFCI outlets (required in homes with children).

USB Outlet Installation

USB outlets combine standard electrical receptacles with built-in USB-A and USB-C charging ports, eliminating the need for bulky adapters. They're ideal for bedrooms, home offices, kitchen counters, and nightstands. We install USB outlets that deliver full charging power (up to 6A combined) without affecting the standard outlet's capacity. Modern USB-C outlets also support fast charging for smartphones, tablets, and laptops.

Dimmer Switch Installation

Dimmer switches provide adjustable lighting levels and reduce energy consumption. We install single-pole dimmers, 3-way dimmers (for lights controlled from two locations), 4-way dimmers, and smart dimmers. Importantly, we ensure compatibility between the dimmer and your specific LED fixtures — mismatched dimmers cause flickering, buzzing, and premature LED failure. We carry and install dimmers from Lutron, Leviton, and other quality manufacturers known for smooth LED dimming performance.

240V Outlet Installation

Large appliances like electric dryers, ranges, ovens, and EV chargers require 240V outlets with dedicated circuits. We install all common 240V outlet configurations: NEMA 14-30 (dryers), NEMA 14-50 (ranges and EV chargers), NEMA 6-50 (welders and some EV chargers), and specialty outlets. Each installation includes a new dedicated circuit from your panel with properly sized wire and breaker.

For Sonoma County homeowners converting gas appliances to electric (an increasing trend as California moves toward electrification), we install the required 240V circuits for induction ranges, heat pump dryers, heat pump water heaters, and heat pump HVAC systems.

Adding New Outlets

Many older homes in Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Sebastopol, and throughout Sonoma County simply don't have enough outlets. Current NEC code requires outlets every 12 feet along walls, within 6 feet of each doorway, and in specific locations in kitchens and bathrooms. We add new outlets by running circuits from your panel or tapping into existing circuits where capacity allows. Every new outlet location includes a code-compliant electrical box, properly routed wiring, and a quality commercial-grade receptacle.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does outlet or switch installation cost?

Simple replacements are $95–$165 per device. New outlets requiring wire fishing or a new circuit run $275–$475. USB and combination outlets are priced per unit. Eleos gives a firm quote before any work.

Can you add a new outlet where there is no wiring?

Yes. We fish a new circuit from the panel or tap off a suitable existing one, install a new box, and patch the drywall afterwards. Eleos handles the full install including any drywall work.

Do you install GFCI outlets for kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor areas?

Yes — and current California code requires GFCI protection on any outlet within 6 feet of a sink, all outdoor outlets, and garage outlets. Eleos replaces any non-compliant existing outlets during a remodel or upgrade.

Can you install USB-C or USB-A outlets?

Yes. Modern USB-C outlets with fast-charge (PD 3.0) capability are a popular upgrade. Eleos installs Leviton, Lutron, and Legrand versions.

Do you install smart outlets and switches?

Yes — Lutron, Leviton, Kasa, and smart-home-platform-specific devices. Most smart switches require a neutral wire; Eleos checks each box before confirming the quote.
